Lego France

Continuing with the study of all things France, Miles is creating lego sculpture of French landmarks. Well, he has made two, but they are pretty cute. Only Miles knows how the frog got to the top of the Eiffel Tower. For a while it hopped over to L'Arc de Triomphe, but it seems to be back. Observe for yourself in these photos!!

Miles learns some French

Hello, Miles here, we started listening to some French tapes in the car. Here are some words I have learned:

la glace(ice)
le bebe(baby)*
la dynamite(dynamite)*
le chat(cat)
la radio(radio)*
la chose(thing)
plus de choses(lots of things)
*I think that most of these words will REALLY come in handy, especially 'la dynamite' (Sarcasm)

Passports, check.

OK, yesterday the kids got out of school early, so we used that time to go get passport photos and apply for the passports. Both parents must be present, and with crazy hours, this was really the only time for all four of us to go!! I get all nervous when I have to carry around folders of important documents like Original Birth Certificates, and Social Security Cards. What if I lose it??? Turns out my BC wasn't the original, despite being the same copy that has gotten me in and out of Mexico and Canada several times....I guess it has no "seal". Well, we are just crossing fingers....I wish I could post the photos we took, they were so pretty. We went to a little photography shop to have them done, and as soon as I sat down the guy said OK, no smile, no teeth, so I immediately cracked up. Nothing like being told I cannot laugh to set me off. Then every time he pointed the camera at me, I started to laugh again. This made HIM laugh, so it took a few minutes to get me to be serious. So my picture is especially lovely and red-faced. Oh goody.

OK, we are going....

We have decided that it is possible, and we are going to Paris France, this summer, in August, 2007. This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I still pinch myself every time I say, "I am going to Paris this summer!". Well I will be 40 in June, so it is really high time I skedaddled off to Europe, and how delighted am I to get to go with my family? Very. I cannot wait to eat croissants de chocolat with Caroline, observe sculpture around every corner through Miles's eyes, and toast with Nick at a streetside cafe with cafe au lait, or French Wine, depending on the time of day...oh, and I do plan to eat cheese every day. Every. Day. This week we are on Mission: Passports. We are trying to decide if we need to expedite the process or risk the 10 weeks. Much cheaper, but we leave in 12 weeks...hmmmm.

We have already gone to the library for French Tapes, French books, maps and guide books. Caroline helped me pick them out, and we even got Tin Tin's illustrated guide to French. Excellent.

Well, hopefully we will be able to post our photos and adventures on this blog, and maybe the children will guest write for me sometimes.

So excited.
